Model fiat  Balilla 508S
Year 1936

Made between 1934 and 1938, this Fiat Balilla 508S is one of the rarest itterations of the model. Imported by Fiat England, these cars were bodied originally in the UK in aluminium rather than the steel. Nearly all of these elegant sports cars were used for competition due to their nimble characteristics, speed and superb handling. The 508S was uniquely fitted with the 108CS overhead valve engine with just 995cc displacement, but typical performance that belied it's size. Our car was delivered new to Ireland in May 1936 and we have copies of a limited number of competiton photos from that period. Having had 1 owner since 1966 who lavished much care and attention on it's restoration, it will be fitted with a fully rebuilt 108CS engine (currently running an 1089 unit) and totally overhauled in our workshops. The wings/ running boards are correct for this car, although most were temporarily removed during competition then re-fittted for the drive home! The windscreen can be easily removed and Brooklands style aero screens fitted and we will supply with a new soft top, the original frame of which is with the car. The 'British racing green' is actually original to this car, as paint removal during it's 1960's restoration discovered.  One of a handful of the original right hand drive 508 Sport Balillas, it will be eligible for entry in most prestigious world events including the Mille Miglia. DTR are specialists in these delightful cars, owning one ourselves and having restored and maintained two others. A truely rare chance to own a practical and fun pre war sports car.
